It wasn’t the first time Jillian had used passion as a panacea. Or the only instance he had accepted comfort from her in this way. But it was the first time he set aside all gentlemanly instincts, threaded his hands through her hair, and without a single reservation, met her kiss for aching kiss.

She surged against him wildly, pressing her breasts against his chest and running her hands up and down his spine. A rush of need coursed through him and the anger, regret and frustration he had been feeling for days now finally began to ease.

This was what he needed, he thought, as she rocked against him restlessly, her pliant body surrendering all the more. She was what he needed. And damn it all, if she didn’t seem to realize it, too, he thought in wonderment.

“Coop,” she whispered, her slender body melding into his. “Make love with me now. Please.”

He could hardly refuse her.

Still kissing her, he lifted her, positioning her legs around his waist. “Your wish is my command, darlin’.”

Quietly, they moved through the downstairs and up to the second floor. Her bedcovers were still rumpled. The room smelled of roses, just as her hair and skin did.

He set her down beside the bed. Dropped his head, and kissed her slow and wet, hard and deep. He was in no hurry, slowly and sweetly taking his time feasting on her lips. Until she moved impatiently against him...wanting more.

She stepped out of her shoes. Reached for his shirt, tugging it over his head.

With a husky laugh, he slipped off her T-shirt and bra, unsnapped her shorts and eased her panties down her thighs. Her hands rested on his shoulders, while he helped her step out.

“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered. “So smokin’ hot.”

Grinning back at him, she eased off his jeans and drew down his boxer briefs. “Right back at you, cowboy.” Her palms stroked him in an ever-widening circle. His body hardened. He knew he would never make it if he let her have full rein.

His thumbs caressed the curves of her breasts, gently caressed her nipples. Savoring the sight of her, he drew her over to sit on the side of the bed. Easing her knees open, he knelt between them. He traced her with his fingertips and kissed her again, until she clung to him like a lifeline. Aware even as he found her, there, with his lips and tongue, that she was on the brink. And then she was gone, clutching his head, shuddering at the tender intimacy of their connection. And he was nearly gone, too.

“Coop...” she murmured again. Impatient, wanton, now.

Heart pounding in his chest, he exited just long enough to retrieve a condom. She lay back against the pillows, watching, mesmerized, as he rolled it on. And then they were together, kissing again. He was stretched out overtop of her. Her legs wrapped around his hips.

She was wet and open.

He was hot and hard.

And then there was no more waiting. He gave her what she wanted and needed.
